August 30/ Pastor Shawn/ Matthew 13:24-30
1. Are any of you gardeners? How do you feel about weeds? How do you feel when your HOA writes you a fine because of your weeds?
2. What are some “weeds” in our culture that can drain us spiritually or make it harder for us to grow in our faith?
3. Jesus says the wheat and weeds are allowed to grow together. What does this teach us about living as Christians in a world where sin and evil are all around us?
4. The message says we aren’t called to create a “Christian bubble.” How can we be around people who don’t share our beliefs without allowing them to pull us away from Christ?
5. Ephesians 3:17 says, “Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.” What are some practical ways we can grow deeper roots in God’s love?
6. Why do you think God sometimes allows difficult, sinful, or frustrating people to remain in our lives instead of simply removing them?
7. Jesus didn’t shame the Samaritan woman or the woman caught in adultery. What can we learn from Jesus about how to respond to people whose lifestyles or choices we disagree with?
8. What is the difference between standing firm in biblical truth and becoming judgmental toward people?
9. Jesus said people would recognize His disciples by their love. If someone watched the way you treated people this past week, what would they learn about Jesus?
10. Is there someone in your life who is difficult to love right now? What might it look like to carry the love of Christ to that person this week?
11. The message ends with six instructions: be on guard, stand firm, be patient, take courage, don’t be judgmental, and do everything in love. Which one do you most need God’s help with right now, and why?
